What is the level of the signature with a Smartcard?

In the real world the signature only has one level (signee/recipient) whereas in the digital world the signature can be:
- qualified (it has the same value as a handwritten signature and the user does not need to bring additional proofs)
- advanced (the judge can ask additional proofs)

The signature with a Smartcard is qualified. A qualified signature, in the means of the European directive, is an electronic signature based on a qualified certificate created on a secured device for the creation of signatures, such as the LuxTrust Smartcard (Secure signature Creation Service).
